Gambling Story #2 - "A Priceless Roulette Moment"
Okay, as unbelievable as this may seem, it really happened to a friend of a friend of mine. Miracles really do happen!
Even money Roulette bets are the easiest to win money but, when it comes to the Inside Odds, that's where you may run into a problem and could lose your money in the blink of an eye. My friend's friend, Jane, knows the game of Roulette very well apparently, and she knows better than to place wagers on a Straight bet. Hitting a Straight bet, the odds are 38:1 against you. But, what can I say, I guess she felt lucky. She placed $5 on the number 34. The payoff was 35:1 - a definite long shot. It hit! She bet again leaving $5 on the same number 34. Another hit! While my friend is telling me this story, I'm calculating in my head that she just beat a 1400:1 odds - those are the odds that you would hit a number straight up 2 times in a row. Amazing! She let the $5 ride on the same number, 34, for the 3rd time in a row. It hit again! Un-frickin-believable!
When I asked my friend what Jane's reaction was, he said that she told him that she simply cracked a smile when she hit the Straight bet for the 3rd time; then she immediately cashed out. Although we might have thought that she was a fool for playing a Straight up bet once never mind 3 times, she was no fool when it came to walking away. She knew just when to quit. My friend said that Jane's sister, who was not much of a gambler, has started trying her luck at Roulette. She purchased an eBook (I can't remember the name of the author or the book at this moment) but, once she read it from front to back, she started playing and hasn't stopped since. And, I hear she's doing quite well.
